Windows are transparent because they let the light through. Solar panels transform light into electricity. So combining both would, I think, result in very inefficient solar panels.

First thing they teach electrical contractor about solar PV, NEVER MOUNT THEM VERTICAL! They receive so little light , even when they are on the sunlit side of the building, they never produce enough power.

If light goes through then it isn't harvested by the solar panel. And even if it was as efficient as an ordinary solar panel the angle of it alone would make it incredibly inefficient compared to an actual solar panel. This is just solar roadways turned 90 degrees.

Imagine a big city with lot of glass surfaces like Dubai or something. Even if the efficiency is not that great. Let's say it's around 5% with bad weather accounted for. Or even if the efficiency is lower. You get considerable amount of energy. And I am guessing the buildings would be cooler as the glass is not fully transparent. Epic. Stuff like this are good idea. I think we should go further this direction.

This will block light coming in too. You will have to add light inside, eating your cost. A better idea would be solar window shades .
