Well, with better smithing you can upgrade your gear. Restoration not only helps you healing, but it allows you to cast anti-undead spells. The only thing not directly useful for this fight would be the lockpicking skill, and that's assuming you didn't earn money off of it which you might've used to build yourself up in other ways.
