Michaelangelo didn't want to paint the roof of the Sistine Chappel mainly on the account that he was a sculptor and not a painter, but the pope bullied him into agreeing to do it. Michaelangelo was asked to paint 13 biblical figures. Out of spite of the pope he instead decided to paint 340 because it wasn't what he was asked to do, and he got paid more cause it took way longer and annoyed the pope.
